e-Collage Competition (Feb - 2018):

Paper collage is a technique where the artwork is created using bits & pieces of different textured & colored paper. These forms and shapes eventually create a whole image. Art expression is a unique way of linking imagination and creativity with the shades and tints of life experiences. Collage making competition was conducted by the department of Chemistry to light up the spirit of sharing and thanks giving at the end of a ChemFest-2018. There was a great cooperation seen among the team and the students learnt a lot through the competition. This year the department of chemistry has organized the e-Collage competition on 13th Feb 2018 at 03.00 pm in e-Library. An overwhelming response from the post-graduate students was received. 12 teams comprising 2 students from post graduate students were participated in the competition. All the participants were asked to create a collage using computer and internet to avoid the wastage of paper, colour and other material. Refreshments were also served during the competition. Two Winners were selected from the participants. Prizes and certificates were distributed to the winners by the hands of Dr. Khursheed Ahmed.

Visit to Orphanage:

Dr. Khursheed Ahmed, Chemistry students, & non teaching staff visited the orphanage.Dr. Khursheed Ahmed talked to the children and inspired them to study hard and achieve their future goals. The Principle of the Tayyabia Orphanage Mr. Abdul Wahid had interacted with all of us & appreciated this work on behalf of Tayyabia Orphanage Trust, & requested to visit again in future.

Anti-Superstition Demonstration:

Superstition is one of the widely spread vices in our society. Many unfortunate incidents keep appearing in newspapers. The gravity of situation was realized in Maharashtra as well as in all over India. The Maharashtra Assembly created history by passing the much-awaited anti-superstitions bill in the winter session of the state legislature in Nagpur on Friday 13th December 2013. NSS unit of our college organized a demonstration by staff members of Chemistry Department in Kanhe Gaon against superstitions on 15thDecember 2013. It is necessary to create awareness in our society to provide a healthy and safe social environment with a view to protect the poor and ignorant people against the evil and sinister practices and customs thriving on blind faith, beliefs and ignorance. The blind faith and beliefs are propagated in the name of God or some so called divine or super natural or magical powers or evil spirits. The God's men, quacks and conmen exploit and harm mentally, physically and financially the poor and ignorant people in the Society thereby destroying the very social fabric of the Society.

During NSS Winter Camp, the demonstration on 7th December 2014, was given to the students of orphanage, special children and other villagers at Naigaon. The students showed how with the help of chemical reactions, artificial blood is shed from hands and people are deceived by the trick. Other items presented by students include getting blood from lemon, generation of fume in an empty beaker, burning sugar with very bright flame, burning the cloth without damaging the fabrics. They talked about Late Narendra Dabolkar, President; Maharashtra Andhrashraddha Nirmoolan Samiti (MANS) which is an organization working towards eradication of superstitions.

The department of chemistry had  organized a superstition eradicating programme  “Chemistry behind superstition” under “Be Safe” programme on 1st Feb 2017.The programme was conducted in green auditorium.Students of T.Y.BSc. demonstrated short reactions that illustrates superstition. The programme was conducted in three sessions as

  10:30-11.30: Arts

  11:30-12.30: BCA

   12:30-1.30: BBA

The programme started with brief explanation of superstition using power point presentation which was followed by practical demonstration .Students from all stream showed keen interest and gave overwhelming response .

Blood Donation:

The institutes of higher education are required to play pivotal role in nation building exercise through Teaching, Research and Extension. The department of Chemistry conducts various such activities. Readers are requested to give their inputs for further enrichment of these activities. The department has organized this activity for consecutive three years. This activity is organized in coordination with certified blood banks. The students and teachers actively participate in this activity. The purpose of this activity is to enlighten students about the problems of blood scarcity faced by hospitals and patients during health crisis and encourage them to take up this activity as a responsibility towards the society. We are posting short reports and glimpses from the blood donation camps organized by the department. The blood donation camp was organized by Post Graduate Department of Chemistry and Research Center, AISC, Pune on Wednesday, 31st August 2016, at L1 Hall, Second Floor, Library Building, Abeda Inamdar Senior College, with the help of Red Plus Blood Bank, Bhosari, Pune. It began at 10:00 am and continued till 04:00 pm, with a steady stream of donors throughout. The L1 hall was abuzz with college students and staff chatting with each other, happy to be able to play their part in lending a helping hand to people in the region. L1 hall was utilized for medical check-up of potential donors, as well as the donation itself. They were provided with glucose water and food including tea, coffee, biscuits and banana. It was great to see more people than pre-registration numbers turning up at the venue. This stretched the capacity of the blood bank, as a result of which the contact details of the donors were taken so as to allow them to donate at the earliest to the blood bank. The blood bank asked for 40 units. Blood bank got 25% more volunteer than their expected numbers and the collection tallied to 51 units.

As a part of celebration of 25 Years of Excellence, Post Graduate Department of Chemistry and Research Center had organized a Blood Donation Camp in association with Aacharya Anandrishiji Blood Bank, Pune, on 27th October 2015 at 10:30 am to 03:30 pm. Many students from different departments of our college had visited the camp and 21 students donated their blood on this occasion.

Intra-Collegiate Collage Competition:

As a part of silver jubilee celebration of college, the department of chemistry has organized the Collage competition on 19thJan 2016 at 11.00 am in Green galaxy. The competition was inaugurated by Dr. Khursheed Ahmed. The incharges for this completion was Mr. Anees Pangal and Mr. Javed Shaikh. An overwhelming response from under-graduate and post-graduate students was received. 22 teams comprising 5 students from undergraduate and post graduate students were participated in the competition.
