Established in the year 1992, the Department of Sociology has the distinction of being one of the older departments in the college. The staff has played a crucial role in defining the curriculum for Sociology for undergraduate and postgraduate courses. It offers specialization in Sociology at the BA level and a two-year Masters programme in Sociology. The Department of Sociology is committed to teaching its students the basics of sociology within the context of a general awareness of diverse national and international social realities within the framework of the syllabus laid out by SPPU. The Department of Sociology organizes events like the Sociology Quiz, Poster Competitions, Paper Presentations, Screening of Documentaries and Movies, Debate Competitions, Street Plays, Group Discussions, Study Tours and Guest Lectures for the benefit of the students.
